Christmas at the time of Recession
In a difficult and unpredictable economic time like this, most families are struggling to balance their budgets in order to avoid unwise and unnecessary spending. But unfortunately, many people cannot boast of savings today either because they’ve lost their job or the numbers of hours they put up at the workplace has been reduced.
As much as Christmas is less than a month from now, that joy which the season, normally brings might be receded in some families because things were no longer the same again. The celebration which is always known for, as the time of exchanging gifts, presents and pleasantries some use the occasion as a period of travelling aboard to visit families, friends and loved ones. In fact, this year’s occasion might be celebrated in a low key courtesy of the recession.
However one would ask, what will happen to all the commodities that will be displayed in the shops during the Christmas period starting from Textile, to groceries. Despite the economic situation people will still lay their hands on these products because; they are sin qua non and hard to forgo. But without the proper scale of preference some family’s budget will be in serious trouble. In order to avoid the anxiety of spending much, on luxury goods one should draw a priority list to reduce unwise spending.
Above all, Christmas is all about showing love to our loved ones and also for a family reunion. It is a time of joy and happiness irrespective of the harsh economic situation today. Please be wise in your spending.
