AFRICA’S ENERGY FUTURE
When you take a look at the pedigree of some African oil
producing nations in one time
or the other; has been rocked with crisis either civil or tribal
war which the power struggle were all centred on the resources control. Sometimes
one may ask whether the oil resources were a devil’s gift. These countries include
Sudan, Nigeria, Algeria, Angola etc.
It is regrettable that, upon all the vast resource that
Nature has bestowed on the continent there hasn’t been any meaningful development
to attest to this rather, the leaders have been looting all the wealth from
these resources. Unfortunately the youths become the burden bearer to this.
African youths have been denied qualitative education due to
these corrupt leaders. The money from these vast resources that supposed to
have been, used to better the lives of the people cannot be accountable for.
Instead these leaders try to perpetuate themselves in power in order to cover
up their misdeeds so as avoid probe and prosecution.
Whether the African youths like or not; they should be reminded
that, they are the ones that will wrestle with the future events. It is their
duty to put things right by reminding their governments sit up and live up
their responsibilities.
Things cannot continue in this form, the world is changing;
technology is advancing every day, the West is working round the clock in
search for alternative energy. Very soon gas will not much be priced in
international market because by then; another source of energy would have
replace it, cars will soon be powered by electricity. That why countries like
Dubai and Saudi Arabia that are leading oil producers are using their vast
resource, investing on tourism and other capital developments. Africa should
not be left out on this race otherwise; it will be late for her. A stitch in
time they say saves nine.
