"The Accident Scene"


                                                      
                                                                       
As Duncan Stokes was taking an evening walk towards the park; by the side of the road he came closer to a stationery car with its windscreen and side mirror smashed, he suspected it to be an accident scene. This drew his attention to come closer to know exactly what happened. It was a red Honda SUV which involved a couple who ran into a tree and eventually one of the tree’s branches fell and crushed the car. And fortunately; a good spirited individual who was at the scene earlier was able to a call an ambulance which took them to hospital. The couple were lucky to escape with minor injuries.
Duncan now raised false alarm by phoning the police for help but to the surprise of the police when they arrived at the scene of the accident there was nobody found inside the car. The officers were all astonished and they started interrogating Duncan...


“Where are the victims?”one of the officers asked.
Duncan replied “you mean?”
“The accident victims” said the officer
“I don’t know maybe the ambulance might have rushed them to hospital”, said Duncan
“Were you there when the accident occurred?”Officer asked.
“No”, replied Duncan.
“Anyway thank you Mr. Duncan for informing the police.”
He shook the officer’s hand, “it is always my pleasure” said Duncan.
“Please do not hesitate to give us a call if you get any useful information.”
“Yes I will,” said Duncan!

As the officers drove off, there was silence in the car. They were contemplating their next plan whether to go to the hospital to identify the victims or to go back to their station. They resolved to visit the hospital as was in line with their duties. On arriving at the hospital they were informed by the receptionist that the couple have been released from the emergency ward and are heading back to their home and officers now returned back to their station.

THE AFTERMATH OF THE ELECTION AND A WAY FORWARD:

The 2011 Presidential election in Nigeria has come and gone. It will go down in the country’s chequered history as one of the bloodiest election ever held in Nigeria. Despite the irregularities by some polling stations, the international observers who monitored the election scored Nigeria a pass mark for how the election was conducted compared to the previous elections that were held, at least there was an improvement.
