AFRICA’S ENERGY FUTURE

When you take a look at the pedigree of some African oil producing nations in one time or the other; has been rocked with crisis either civil or tribal war which the power struggle were all centred on the resources control. Sometimes one may ask whether the oil resources were a devil’s gift. These countries include Sudan, Nigeria, Algeria, Angola etc. It is regrettable that, upon all the vast resource that Nature has bestowed on the continent there hasn’t been any meaningful development to attest to this rather, the leaders have been looting all the wealth from these resources. Unfortunately the youths become the burden bearer to this. African youths have been denied qualitative education due to these corrupt leaders. The money from these vast resources that supposed to have been, used to better the lives...

Christmas at the time of Recession

In a difficult and unpredictable economic time like this, most families are struggling to balance their budgets in order to avoid unwise and unnecessary spending. But unfortunately, many people cannot boast of savings today either because they’ve lost their job or the numbers of hours they put up at the workplace has been reduced. As much as Christmas is less than a month from now, that joy which the season, normally brings might be receded in some families because things were no longer the same again. The celebration which is always known for, as the time of exchanging gifts, presents and pleasantries some use the occasion as a period of travelling aboard to visit families, friends and loved ones. In fact, this year’s occasion might be celebrated in a low key courtesy of the recession.  However one would ask, what will happen to all the commodities that will be displayed in the shops during the Christmas period starting from Textile, to groceries. Despite the econ...

Menace of Boko Haram and the way out!

Nigeria and world are to be better place without the menace of the radical Islamic extremists group from the Northern part of the country called the “Boko Haram”! They’ve inflicted much pains on Nigerians especially the minority Christians living at their door steps. How long President Jonathan will continue to watch these dare devils unleashed terror attack on the innocent citizens? The Government should stand up and live up to their responsibilities by providing adequate security to all Nigerians. This Islamic terror group should not be handle with kid gloves because, terrorism is like a plague which this Islamic extremists has chosen as the weapon of the modern day warfare. Boko Haram as a terrorist group is seeking for recognition, just like the days of the Niger Delta Militants groups but the approach and their ideologies has lots of under tunes which is detrimental and undermined the unity of the country. What the government should do is to investigate and gather all necess...

THE PAINS OF INFIDELITY

Infidelity is like drug addiction; it is difficult to overcome and without proper precaution, it is the number one agent of marriage destroyer. In fact the world has gone crazy about carnality; it is very common these days especially in some highly placed individuals who sort succour by cheating their partners. Take a look at list of these individuals in the likes of Tiger Wood, John Terry, Ashley Cole, Ryan Gigg, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former governor of South Carolina Mark Sanford, the former   Democrat governor of New Jersey James E. McGreevey and the recent victim the (IMF) boss Strauss Kahn the list is endless. As the saying goes that “to whom much is given, much is expected”. These are people the public looked up to as role models but today, the reverse has been the case. Where did the society get it wrong? The emergence of internet revolution such as 3G Smart phones, iPad, cable television etc and its pornographic contents has changed the moral psyche of most indi...

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) should rise up and fight for the voiceless and oppressed Nigerian workers!

The government should try by legislating laws that will protect the rights of workers in Nigeria because some so-called Big Co-operations have turned the workers into slavery. The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) should have a routine check both in government and private sectors through sampling workers opinions, knowing their feelings and reactions towards their working conditions. In as much as, every establishment has a Union that fight for workers’ interest but above all these; some unions executives sometimes, can be bought over with money by the management which render these bodies inefficient to protect the workers' interest. In some establishments some workers have no right for annual leave; some have no access to healthcare services and while others, have no opportunities for pay rise to compliment their efforts and hard work. Many of these workers have put up their best for their employers but unfortunately, they have nothing to show for it. The NLC should rise up and spea...

THE AFTERMATH OF THE ELECTION AND A WAY FORWARD:

The 2011 Presidential election in Nigeria has come and gone. It will go down in the country’s chequered history as one of the bloodiest election ever held in Nigeria. Despite the irregularities by some polling stations, the international observers who monitored the election scored Nigeria a pass mark for how the election was conducted compared to the previous elections that were held, at least there was an improvement. The election was marred with sectarian violence in the Northern part of the country, especially in states like Kaduna and Katsina where some houses and churches were burnt down to ashes.   Some people were killed which include; some members of the National Youths Service Corps who were drafted to help for the smooth conduct of the election and some were also left injured.   It is very regrettably that the country has not learnt its lessons from the previous mistakes, instead those who parade themselves as leaders and scavengers of peace are still ...

THE WIND OF CHANGE!

Wind of Change. “A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new; when an age ends; and when the soul of a nation long suppressed finds utterance.”...Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India.   Change is the only thing that is constant. The wind of change is sweeping across the Middle East region.   First it was Tunisia the next port of call was Egypt and who knows where the “Sword of Damocles” will fall next? Bahrain, Yemen and Syria are both sharing their own cake of revolution.   The ousted Tunisian leader Ben Ali was appointed Prime Minister in October 1987, and assumed the Presidency in November 1987 in a bloodless coup d'état, from the then President Habib Bourguiba, who was declared incompetent.   Ben Ali was in pow...

Is there anything wrong to fart in public?

Is there anything wrong to fart in public? Otherwise it’s a nature call which every man answers at one time or the other but with due respect in doing that. Precise it will be foolish and embarrassing for someone to fart in public! It should be regarded as “accidental discharges” when it happens and the person involved should render an apology by saying the word “excuse me please.” One time or the other we might have experienced this as an individual, how did you feel; did you feel embarrassed or eulogized? Input please!
